Blocking

Everyone like to focus on the main aspects of the game such as hitting, passing, and setting, but blocking is also extremely important in making the game fun and exciting.

Blocking is highly important for the middle hitter. She or he is the person in the front row moving across the net to hopefully stop the ball from coming to the other side. Not only do the middle blockers have an obligation to get above the net and be in a continuous motion from side to side to backwards (to hit) but the rights sides and outside hitters need this skill as well. To have a good solid, strong, and intimidating block, both girls/guys need to block at the same time.

Last but not least, blocking is probably the one thing that gets the team fired up and excited. Hearing the loud smack of the ball onto your bare hands, and driving it straight into the ground that it’s so fast… you feel like you have all the momentum in the world. You turn around to see the whole team shout “ooooooo” with their hands in the air like you just hurt somebody in a fight.

Blocking is so important in the game of volleyball.
